In 2021 the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) was authorized to establish a Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP) and was award competitive grant funding to construct, acquire, and expand properties and invest in mobile crisis infrastructure related to behavioral health. DHCS has been releasing these funds through multiple grant rounds targeting various gaps in the state’s behavioral health facility infrastructure. Casa Pacifica Camarillo was one of the recipients of this funding.
In late 2024, Casa Pacifica Camarillo transformed existing cottages for low-risk youth residences into facilities for higher-risk youths.
The renovations include everything from bringing the aging facilities up to current ADA codes, achieving Title 24 with upgraded lighting and HVAC and refreshing the interiors with new paint and flooring, to installing safety enhancements needed for those with behavioral health issues such as safety glass and observation windows in patient doors for well-being checks.
