The Harbor View Villas Building B project, located in Ventura, California is a rebuild of a 6-story, 34-unit hillside apartment building that was destroyed by the Thomas Fire in 2017. The 47,115 sq. ft building is a combination of type-I and type-V construction. During the extensive pre-construction work performed with the design-team and geotechnical engineer, it was determined that over ninety (90) 36” diameter CIP concrete caissons would be needed to support the foundation and site retaining walls on the small, steep hillside. This apartment building closely resembles its nearby sister building overlooking the Ventura Harbor.
