Marissa Skinner, Staples Construction Assistant Project Manager, Awarded “40 Under 40” Distinction

Each year, the Pacific Coast Business Times recognizes 40 men and women, all under the age of 40, as business leaders in the Tri-Counties community. These “40 under 40” are recognized for their leadership, economic insights, and dedication.

This year, Staples’ own Marissa Skinner joins their ranks.

Marissa is one of our Project Managers, and has been a part of the Staples team for 12 years now. She currently manages the project coordinators in our Ventura office. Working with superintendents, writing subcontractor agreements, tracking accounting...as she says, “Each project is different. You can never get bored in this field!”

We are thrilled to see Marissa’s talent recognized in the “40 under 40.” Everyone on the team thanks the Pacific Coast Business Times for this kind award.

The distinction comes with invitation to an exclusive reception on September 18th, at the Tower Club in Oxnard. We’ll make sure Marissa attends!

2017 "Fore The Kids" Golf Tournament Sponsored By Staples Construction—A Resounding Success

The 24th annual "Fore the Kids" golf tournament took place on May 22, 2017. It was a resounding success, both in the golf played, and in fundraising for our community.

This is the 4th year that Staples Construction has sponsored "Fore the Kids". Held at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, California, the event raises money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Point Hueneme. 100% of the funds raised go to programs for local kids.

It's one of our favorite annual events. Everyone on the Staples Construction team, including our subcontractors and business associates, get involved. It is a great way to continue to build relationships while also taking care of the kids in our community.

In 2016, the event raised over $62,000. This year, we wanted to reach a goal of $65,000. We didn't hit that goal—we smashed right through it! The SOLD OUT event raised $75,655!

We are grateful to all of the people who came together to make this event the success that it was.

Staples Construction is a Central Coast "Best Place to Work"

We're happy to announce that Staples Construction was voted one of the 2017 "Best Places to Work" for the Central Coast area!

The Pacific Coast Business Times surveyed hundreds of professionals across our local economy, collecting business nominations. As a service to our community, Pacific Coast Business Times wanted to identify businesses that have great morale, safe working environments, and the best teams.

The "Top 25 Best Places to Work" list will publish in a special report, the 101 One Hundred, on April 21. The report will also include Top Lists of Public Companies & Private Companies. Winners will also enjoy a swanky reception at the Four Seasons Santa Barbara Biltmore on May 18.

"This is not the first award the Pacific Coast Business Times has bestowed on Staples Construction,” said David Staples, President. “They awarded us the 2014 'Spirit of Small Business' award as well. I said it then, and I'll say it now...the strength of our company is the people we have. They've definitely earned the recognition."

From everyone at Staples Construction, many thanks to the Pacific Coast Business Times. We're grateful for the recognition...and we'll aim even higher next year!

Walker Zanger Showroom Wins Three Kitchen & Bath Industry Show Awards

Walker Zanger, a global tile supplier, has won three awards at the 2017 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show!

The company built a 127,000-sq.-ft. facility in Los Angeles to showcase their tiling products, and welcome clients into the refined Walker Zanger aesthetic.

From the announcement:

"The new facility is equipped with LED lighting and skylights throughout, electric car-charging ports, bicycle storage lockers and drought-tolerant landscaping. Its two-story lobby features a grand staircase and 20-ft. diameter, custom-designed floor medallion made from a single piece of waterjet-cut limestone. The 91,000-sq.-ft. indoor warehouse includes an elegant Slab Gallery, 523-ft. indoor crane and wire-guided order-picking system that allows for narrower aisles and more room for product."

Staples Construction did tenant improvements for the showroom. It was a pleasure to work with Walker Zanger on this...the showroom is gorgeous. A stunning reflection of their high-quality tiles (which we've used in our own projects, to great effect). From all of us at Staples Construction, congratulations!

Staples Construction Launches New Website

Staples Construction Launches New Website

Staples Construction has launched a new website that does exactly what their company does: it focuses on the best experience for you.

Whether you’re an owner’s rep, prospective employee, or potential client, the new site is designed with the user in mind. Navigation is easy and intuitive; information is sortable and concise.  Rather than losing interest while scrolling through pages of content, visitors can find what they need (or hide what they don’t need) with a simple click of this user-friendly design.

Visually Appealing

From the beautiful Lexus and Rolls Royce dealerships, to universities and government projects, visually striking, high-resolution photos showcase the broad experience of Staples Construction.

The “Our Process” page employs collapsible regions in easy-to-read segments, so readers can see exactly why Staples Construction is a leader in the construction industry.  For example, an extensive preconstruction phase that provides 3D constructability renderings of 2D plans, thereby creating a virtual walk-through of projects before the first shovelful of dirt is moved.

A Design as Friendly as the Owner

David Staples wanted his company’s website to work the way his team does.  He wanted a website that represents Staples Construction as successful and innovative, but still approachable and friendly.

Working closely with the Staples Construction staff and the PlanetMagpie design team, the website conveys the message that David had envisioned for its re-branding.  It is truly a reflection of collaboration with all involved, from conception to completion, as are all Staples Construction projects.

“Our team sets out to prove our quality with every bid, on every project,” said David.  “We’ve had some great clients and phenomenal builds.  Now we’re able to showcase the important parts of our business, and propel the company to the level our people deserve.  It’s going to be a lot of fun!”

When asked to provide quotes used throughout the site, clients and architects alike eagerly offered up examples and anecdotes about why they love Staples Construction.

Staples Construction Sponsors 2016 “FORE the KIDS” Golf Tournament

What’s a great way to have fun, stretch your legs, and help kids succeed at the same time?  Golf!

On May 23, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme sponsored a golf tournament.  They call it the “FORE the KIDS Golf Classic.”  It was held at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.  To raise money for their youth programs, such as sports teams and community activities, they accepted sponsorships to register players and win prizes.

Many of our staff enjoy a good round of golf.  We also support the Boys and Girls Clubs.  So Staples Construction elected to sponsor the tournament as their Presenting Sponsor.  Turnout was amazing.  Everyone had a ball.  We can’t wait to head out again next year!
